Meet Lost in Ikea, one of our "Focus" bands here at Music House. They've discovered that playing in a band is about more than just music. It's about teamwork & human connection. These guys have not only become better musicians; they've also become stronger, more empathic human beings. And they're also evolving into a killer band!
Why did you name your band "Lost in Ikea"? What's the story behind it?

Weston Comfort: We actually used the band name generator in the Music House app and liked the name because it was funny and relatable. |
What is the best part of being in a band?

Daphne Sanders: The Laughs! And learning new genres of music! Weston: Playing with my friends! Braydon Soukup: Learning how to play songs you like! |
What are some of your band goals?

Grayson Davis: To get better at our instruments! Weston: To learn a wide variety of music. |
What is your most memorable band experience?
|
Daphne: My favorite experience was coming back from vacation this year and learning that Matt Elton, our band teacher, had to sing all the girl songs on stage. Weston: The fun times we have had while choosing songs to play. |
If you got to open for any band or artist, current or defunct, who would it be?

Weston: Red Hot Chili Peppers. Grayson: Tyler Childers. Landon Aguilar: Sabrina Carpenter. Daphne: Taylor Swift. Ben Hawkes: Muse. Braydon: System of a Down. |
What advice would you give to students who are just getting started?

Daphne: Be open to new ideas. Grayson: Practice! |
What do you guys do that's special – that you think sets you apart from all the Music House bands?

Weston: We're very respectful to each other and we play a variety of genres and styles of music! Daphne: We work together and have been through a lot of good times and hard moments. We always come together at the end of the day to make great music! |
How has playing with other people benefited you?

Daphne: If you just sing along to a recording, it's different. You have to listen to each other more. It has helped me listen to other parts of the band. Landon: You have to work together to keep up with things like tempo. You're not just going out on your own. Grayson: It's helped my communication skills. |
