Hailing from Kansas City, Kansas, Matt began playing string instruments at the age of 10, and was playing professionally by the age of 12. After graduating from Turner High School, he pursued a degree in Music Education and Performance from Washburn University and has continued to teach and perform all around the country for over half a decade. Matt has performed for some prominent Kansas Citians including Mayor Quinton Lucas, Mayor Tyrone Garner, and House Speaker Sharice Davids, and some notable venues including Black Dolphin. A multi-instrumentalist, Matt comes to Music House so excited to share the artful as well as human side of music with his students. Matt considers himself always learning and growing as a musician. He says, “My goal as a musician and teacher is to spread the joy music gives me to other people. The better I get, the more I get to move other people. I guess you can say there is a lot to keep me practicing.”
