LAME is a trio of musicians who met studying jazz at Truman State University. Now based in Kansas City the group blends deep musical training with a shared interest in sonic exploration. Their sound moves between tightly constructed grooves and expansive improvisation. The group features highly technical drumming from Alex Karst, bold tenor saxophone tones conjured by Sam Weaver, intricate guitar parts and a dynamic layer of live sampling textures made by Aster Clark. Outside of performing, each member remains active in music education and the local scene teaching music lessons and gigging all over Kansas City.
JANSEN WOOTON is a self-taught guitarist and seasoned percussionist. Hisvmusical path blends informal creativity with structured ensemble work. From high school pop punk bands to college drumline, he has spent years developing a diverse skill set through hands-on experience in a variety of musical settings. Jansen has experience as a frontman, guitarist, vocalist, drummer, studio musician, and composer, and is always exploring new instruments. His approach to music is rooted in a passion for discovery and a belief that versatility builds stronger musicians. When going solo Jansen enjoys taking the stage with his acoustic guitar and carpet of effects pedals to create an intriguing textural performance that keeps the audience engaged. His fingerstyle playing explores a full landscape of frequencies by incorporating harmonics and alternate tunings.
