Daphne Scruggs is a Kansas City native who has been teaching in the area since 1995. “My teaching philosophy is to give students the important tools they need to learn,” says Daphne, “while also giving them the freedom to play music that motivates them. If they are excited about what we’re doing, there’s really no limit to what they can achieve.”
Daphne first caught the music bug at the age of eight after watching her grandmother play piano. She has since become an accomplished vocalist, flautist and pianist. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from the UMKC Conservatory of Music. She has also studied music therapy and has worked with children with special needs to achieve therapeutic goals. Daphne has also performed in the Multiple Piano Festival in Independence Missouri and has performed as a Kansas City Symphony Chorus member.
