Briley Patterson

An active freelancer and musician in the Kansas City area, Briley Patterson is a drummer/percussionist with a love for contemporary chamber music. Briley was introduced to the drum kit at a very young age, and his passion for hitting things quickly blossomed into a classical-based career choice, culminating in an experience that changed his life for the better. Originally from East Texas, Briley holds his undergraduate degree in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. He moved to the Kansas City area in 2023 to pursue his Master of Music at UMKC Conservatory, where he studied under the GRAMMY®-nominated ensemble Sandbox Percussion. An advocate for new works of music, he has commissioned and premiered numerous new works for percussion ensemble and other mediums.

Although classically trained, Briley doesn’t neglect his roots and actively strives to hone his drum set skills wherever possible, including teaching lessons for the community! Having fun is his ultimate goal; “if there’s no fun, there’s no music!” When not focusing on work, Briley enjoys playing video games, thrift shopping with his wife Bailey, making at-home lattes, or cuddling with his two cats, Dublin and Freya.
