Senior Send-off: Hayden Malone

by
Aaron Sizemore

Guitar and bass student Hayden Malone started with us four years ago as an absolute beginner. Now he's an accomplished guitarist and bassist who performs regularly with one of our Workshop bands. He's finishing up high school this semester and is planning to embark on his next adventure in the US Army. Good luck to you Hayden. We're going to miss you!

And here's what Hayden had to say when we interviewed him recently.

What instrument do you play?

The electric guitar is my main instrument but I just recently started taking bass seriously.

How long have you been at Music House?

About four years now.

What are your plans for after graduating high school?

I am joining the forces after high school, specifically the U.S Army.

How do you think music will be a part of your life after Music House?

It's still going to be in my life. As always.

What is a moment at Music House that you'll never forget?

Joining the band that I'm in now at Music House!

What advice do you have for Music House students who are just starting to play guitar or bass?

Don't press down so hard. Don't complain that your fingers hurt. They make lighter strings for that.

What will you miss most about Music House?

The friends I've made at Music House.

What's the best piece of musical advice you've received?

Play loud fast and hard even if it's a little sloppy.

What do you hope to remember most about your best performance at Music House?

The summer show last June or July. We sounded really good! Minimal rolling on the floor at that gig.
