Jess Wagner is a voice instructor and performer in the Kansas City area. She earned a Master’s of Music degree in voice performance from the University of Kansas in 2016 and a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. While at KU, she frequently appeared on stage with KU Opera and was praised for her “full, rich mezzo with perfect comic timing” as Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief. Jess has also had the opportunity to perform across the country, in Italy, Austria, Germany, France, and even as a backup singer for Josh Groban in concert at the Sprint Center in Kansas City.
In addition to teaching voice, Jess has experience as a section leader for various choirs, teaching elementary general music and middle and high school choirs, and has been an assistant teaching artist for youth theatre classes. While teaching voice, Jess is extremely passionate about helping students of all ages discover their own unique talents. She is a firm believer that anyone can learn to sing and her goal as a teacher is to encourage students, build their confidence, and give them the tools they need to be the best musicians that they can be, all while having a great time!
