Pianist and educator Jason Harmon grew up in southeast Nebraska. He received his Master of Arts degree in piano pedagogy studying with Dr. Mia Hynes, professor of piano and piano pedagogy, at the University of Central Missouri. Jason’s teaching approach focuses on excitement. “Students need to be excited about music in order to overcome the challenges they will inevitably face,” says Jason. “I really strive to give my students the tools they need to excel while getting them excited about performing and sharing what they’re learning with others.”
While at UCM, Jason was able to work with college students in three beginning levels of group piano classes as a graduate teaching assistant. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with a piano performance emphasis and also his Bachelor of Music degree with Technology at Missouri Western State University while studying piano with Dr. Matt Edwards, professor of keyboard studies. Harmon has also mentored as a camp counselor during his time at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan and helped students there with their daily practice.
