Alex Vogt is a guitarist, composer, arranger, and teacher based in Kansas City, Missouri. Alex picked up the guitar after discovering Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin in middle school, and got the opportunity to perform his favorite music with his school’s rock band. During high school, he became obsessed with improvised music and jazz, which led him to the Conservatory at the University of Missouri Kansas City. There he earned his undergraduate degree in jazz studies under the mentorship of Bobby Watson, Dan Thomas, and Danny Embrey. Alex has performed and seen his arrangements played in some of Kansas City’s most prestigious venues, including the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and the Folly Theatre. As a performer, he plays in various jazz, rock, and funk groups throughout the area.
Alex began teaching guitar and piano lessons in high school and has taught young children, retired adults, and everything in between. As a teacher, he draws on his experience as a performer to provide students with practical, real world instruction that seeks to inspire and motivate.
